Tests and Scores
Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) – English Language Arts, Math, and Science
Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) is Iowa’s accountability measure for students in grades 3-11. The assessment is administered each spring, with all students completing the English language arts (reading & writing) and math assessments, and students in grades 5, 8, & 10 completing the science assessment. Students are scored as follows:
- Not yet Proficient: Students performing at this level have not yet demonstrated the knowledge and skills to be classified as Proficient.
- Proficient: Students performing at this level demonstrate adequate competency over the knowledge, skills, and abilities that meet the requirements for their grade level.
- Advanced: Students performing at this level demonstrate thorough competency over the knowledge, skills, and abilities that meet the requirements for their grade level.
The data below is a summary of the percentage of students who scored Proficient or Advanced at Clear Lake Classical compared to the statewide test results for the ISASP that was administered last spring.
CTP (Comprehensive Testing Program by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB))
The CTP is given to students in grades 1-8. It is a summative assessment that assesses reading, listening, vocabulary, writing, mathematics, and science. It measures both content-specific and conceptual knowledge as well as reasoning ability. ERB offers data on several norm groups so educators can compare student growth and performance against national, independent and ACCS school benchmarks. Our students consistently excel in writing, math, and reading comprehension.

CLT (Classic Learning Test)
Our 11th and 12th grade students take the Classic Learning Test (CLT) which is similar to the ACT only geared for students who have been classically educated. This college admissions test and secondary school assessment is accepted by over 300 colleges and universities for college entrance and scholarships.
Reasons why we support the CLT test:
CLT10 ((Preliminary) Classic Learning Test)

CLT (Classic Learning Test)
Our 11th and 12th grade students take the Classic Learning Test (CLT) which is similar to the ACT only geared for students who have been classically educated. This college admissions test and secondary school assessment is accepted by over 300 colleges and universities for college entrance and scholarships.
Reasons why we support the CLT test:
- Academic alignment with classical education - The CLT is better suited to a classical education. It draws test passages from the greatest authors and influential thinkers of the last few millennia, including many authors studied in our curriculum. The CLT also reintroduces logic as an academic standard for students.
- Scholarships - Students have the opportunity to receive recognition through awards and scholarships.
- Testing what matters - The SAT and ACT are aligned with Common Core State Standards. The CLT, which emphasizes aptitude and not just achievement, will allow students to demonstrate unique academic abilities in the areas of verbal reasoning, grammar & writing, and quantitative reasoning. Their CLT score will also set them apart when competing for college admission with students who have similar SAT scores.
- Free score sharing - Students can choose to send their scores to as many partner colleges as they like. If students are interested in a college that isn’t yet a CLT partner, the CLT score sharing portal makes it easy to send scores to that school’s admissions department.
- The CLT mission is our mission – “Reconnecting Knowledge and Virtue” is an important and noble goal.
- Help us grow as a school - CLT’s in-depth analytics will help us learn where students’ strengths and weaknesses lie and be able to grow our already-amazing curriculum to be even stronger.
